
About this role
Ramp Agents provide ground support for inbound and outbound aircraft. Responsibilities include baggage handling, mail and freight handling, aircraft servicing, driving motorized equipment, and cleaning aircraft interiors. This ensures efficient airport operations.
Daily tasks involve loading, unloading, and transporting passenger baggage, U.S. Mail, freight, and express parcels across airport locations. Operate various servicing equipment for electrical power, engine starts, lavatories, water service, and deicing. Provide safe aircraft guidance using visual, hand, verbal, and electronic methods.
Work in a safety-oriented environment prioritizing personnel, passengers, equipment, and aircraft. Cope with non-routine situations like early/late flights, weather delays, mechanical issues, and passenger assistance. Perform duties in extreme climatic conditions including heat over 100°F, cold below 0°F, winds, rain, ice, and snow.
Maintain all ground handling per customer and company specifications. Complete computer work assignments, reports accurately, and attend required meetings. Project a positive image, keep areas clean, and adhere to FAA/Airline/Company/Airport regulations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with clear driving record
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to repeatedly lift heavy items up to 70 lbs for extended periods
- Able to sit, stand, lift, and bend throughout shift in extreme weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Pass criminal background check
- Read, write, understand, and verbally direct in English; U.S. citizen or INS authorized
Responsibilities
- Handle and care for passenger baggage, loading, unloading, and transporting to/from airport locations
- Handle U.S. Mail, freight, and express parcels, loading, unloading, and transporting across the airport
- Perform all ground handling according to customer and company specifications
- Operate aircraft servicing equipment for electrical, engine start, lavatories, water service, and deicing
- Provide safe guidance of aircraft to/from parked areas, taxiways, and gates using visual, hand, verbal, and electronic communications
- Push or tow aircraft to and from designated locations on the airport
- Assist disabled passengers in and out of the aircraft
- Thoroughly clean aircraft interiors, including turn and overnight as directed
