The Global Flight Planner oversees the overall planning and execution of international flights, maintaining high attention to detail, focus, and adaptability to dynamic flight schedules. This role ensures safe, legal, and efficient coordination across global operations. Professionals in this position handle complex logistics for business aviation.
Day-to-day tasks involve submitting and managing airport slots, PPRs, landing permissions, overflight permits, and ground handling services including fuel and special arrangements. Coordinators also arrange catering, ground transportation, passenger hotels, and manage customs/immigration processes like General Declarations and APIS transmissions. They verify aircraft eligibility and ensure crew and passengers meet entry requirements.
This position thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment requiring strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, along with the ability to monitor weather, research deviations, and notify teams of changes. Various schedules including front/half back half, mornings, evenings, and overnights support operational needs.
Growth comes from interpreting regulations for compliance, making rapid decisions on safety and economy, and providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Reporting non-compliance enhances safety and quality. The role demands physical stamina for extended sitting, typing, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
- Dispatch License preferred
- Business Aviation knowledge and/or experience required
- Familiarity with international operations, Customs/immigration requirements, airport access coordination
- Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills with ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Responsibilities
- Submit and manage applications for airport slots and PPRs, landing, parking requests and overflight permits
- Submit and manage requests for ground handling services, fuel, and other ground related arrangements
- Assist in arranging catering, ground transportation, and passenger hotel arrangements
- Coordinate customs/immigration including General Declarations, APIS transmissions, and crew visas
- Ensure crewmembers and passengers meet all entry requirements for countries visited
- Provide external agents with applicable aircraft/crew documents for trip planning
- Monitor weather and other events with potential to impact aircraft operations
- Make rapid decisions concerning safety, regulations, and economy of operations
