About this role

Amentum is seeking a Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) to provide flight instruction in the UH-72 at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Military aviation experience or UH-72 qualification is not required; applicants must hold an ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate with rotorcraft and instrument ratings.

Instructors teach, coach, and mentor student pilots through intensive training designed to prepare them for future roles as military aviators. Flight instruction is conducted across more than 40,000 square miles within the National Airspace System, with safety remaining paramount.

Amentum has trained over 1,200 students per year since 1989, with a workforce of over 400 employees and an unprecedented safety record exceeding 2.5 million hours of flight instruction. The organization serves the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and Allied partner nations.

This role offers the opportunity to join a world-class aviation education organization with a 30-year tenure of instilling knowledge and skills in nearly 30,000 pilots. Successful candidates will enter a 12-month Employee Agreement subject to government approval.

Requirements

ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings
ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings, or graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course
Total flight time of 1500 hours (pilot-in-command or second-in-command)
100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time
Experience instructing students in instrument flight training
75 hours of night flying, and 500 hours of instructor time
Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to beginning training
Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 200 hours of NVG time

Responsibilities

Provide classroom academic instruction and hands-on flight training in the UH-72 helicopter
Teach, coach, and mentor student pilots through intensive training for military aviation roles
Conduct flight instruction in an area encompassing over 40,000 square miles within the National Airspace System
Ensure safety remains paramount in all aspects of rotary wing flight training
Maintain compliance with FAA regulations and company policies
Prepare students for comprehensive evaluations and real-world mission environments
Document student progress and performance for training records
