About this role

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking KC-46 Mission Systems Avionics Engineers to join the team as equipment managers in Everett or Tukwila. This role supports engineering design, integration, test, certification, and hardware/software management for assigned mission systems avionics sub-systems on the KC-46 Pegasus tanker.

The KC-46 is the USAF’s new aerial refueling tanker based on the Boeing 767-2C and modified for multi-role missions including refueling, cargo transport, and medevac. It features hose-and-drogue and boom systems plus self-defensive and tactical situational awareness capabilities.

Engineers coordinate system-level integration of mission avionics hardware and software while supporting validation, verification, and critical tests. They manage suppliers and Boeing software teams across the full lifecycle from proposal through in-service support and laboratory testing.

Teams consult with specialty IPTs on safety, electromagnetic emissions, and cybersecurity and coordinate FAA, military certification, and Boeing airworthiness activities. The position requires onsite work at one of the listed locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering.
  • An ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a Master’s/PhD in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with mission avionics systems integration, test, and certification on commercial derivative or military aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering design, development, analysis, testing, and certification of the mission avionics systems.
  • Support the design, development, validation, and verification of system level requirements.
  • Assist in the development of test plans and procedures in support of certification activities.
  • Coordinate system-level integration for mission avionics hardware and software.
  • Provide technical management of suppliers and Boeing software team members to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Coordinate FAA, military certification, and Boeing airworthiness activities for the mission avionics systems.
  • Coordinate and consult with specialty engineering IPTs such as safety, electromagnetic emissions, and cybersecurity.
  • Conduct technical issue investigations and Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCAs).
