Aerodrome Management Services (AMS) is a professional services company providing technical support and aerodrome management services to aerodrome owners across Australia. We're seeking motivated and safety-focused Relief Ground Handlers for operational sites across regional Australia on various rosters from Perth. This role suits individuals who enjoy physical, hands-on work in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

You'll ensure smooth, safe, and efficient turnaround of fixed and rotary wing aircraft while supporting general aviation and terminal presentation standards. Responsibilities include coordinating loading/unloading of passengers, baggage, and freight, assisting with aircraft turnaround, and receipt and dispatch of arrivals and departures. You'll also marshal and escort passengers across airside areas.

The role demands a flexible, hands-on, team-oriented approach vital to regional aerodrome operations. You'll operate ground service equipment, perform routine checks, handle Dangerous Goods, and maintain housekeeping standards including cyclone readiness. Utility tasks like terminal cleaning and waste management support safe airport operations.

Requirements

  • Previous ground handling experience
  • Previous experience in aerodrome ramp operations
  • Experience in cleaning, utility, facilities or hygiene-related duties within an operational environment (desirable)
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines and achieve outcomes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with all stakeholders including members of the community, clients, other staff and contractors onsite
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Dangerous Goods Acceptance
  • Current manual drivers’ license

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the safe and timely loading/unloading of passengers, baggage, and freight
  • Assisting with aircraft turnaround in line with operator schedules
  • Receipt and dispatch of all aircraft arrivals and departures
  • Marshalling and escorting passengers across airside areas
  • Operating and performing routine checks on ground service equipment (GSE) and company vehicles
  • Ensuring safe delivery of baggage and freight, including handling of Dangerous Goods
  • Preparing ground equipment allocations in line with scheduled arrivals (SWMPs)
  • Maintaining high housekeeping, cleanliness and hygiene standards across terminal, aviation and airside areas
