
About this role
Ramp Agents provide ground support for inbound and outbound aircraft. Responsibilities include baggage handling, mail and freight handling, aircraft servicing, driving motorized equipment, and cleaning aircraft interiors. This role ensures safe and efficient airport operations.
Daily tasks involve loading, unloading, and transporting passenger baggage, U.S. Mail, freight, and express parcels across airport locations. Operate various aircraft servicing equipment for electrical, engine start, lavatories, water service, and deicing. Provide safe guidance of aircraft using visual, hand, verbal, and electronic communications.
Work in a fast-paced environment with early/late flights, weather delays, and mechanical issues. Must cope with non-routine situations including passenger assistance and re-accommodation. Safety of personnel, passengers, equipment, and aircraft remains the number one priority at all times.
Adhere to FAA/Airline/Company/Airport regulations while projecting a positive image. Attend required meetings and inservices, maintain records and reports accurately. Keep work areas clean and report maintenance needs to supervisors.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with clear driving record
- Must be 18 years of age or older with reliable telephone and transportation
- Able to lift up to 70 lbs repeatedly for extended periods
- Pass pre-employment and random drug tests plus criminal background check
- Work in extreme climatic conditions including heat over 100°F, cold below 0°F, high winds, rain, ice, and snow
- Read, write, understand, and verbally direct in English
- U.S. citizen or possess necessary INS authorization
Responsibilities
- Handle and care for passenger baggage, including loading, unloading, and transportation to airport locations
- Manage U.S. Mail, freight, and express parcels with loading, unloading, and transport
- Operate aircraft servicing equipment for electrical, engine start, lavatories, water service, and deicing
- Provide safe guidance of aircraft to and from parked areas, taxiways, and gates using visual, hand, verbal, and electronic communications
- Push or tow aircraft to and from designated locations
- Assist disabled passengers in and out of the aircraft
- Thoroughly clean aircraft interiors, including turn and overnight services per specifications
- Pull computer work assignments, provision aircraft, and complete reports accurately
