About this role
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) or Diploma Trainee plays a crucial role in maintenance for ground and flight testing of next-generation eVTOL aircraft within a state-of-the-art testing facility. Highly motivated individuals will support inspection, installation, and testing of electric propulsion systems, batteries, avionics, wiring, and GTV operations. The role offers hands-on exposure under expert supervision.
Daily tasks include performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs on critical components like motors and propellers. Engineers carry out installation, troubleshooting of high-voltage circuits, battery systems, and electric propulsion interfaces. They maintain electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS) with routing, bonding, grounding, clamping, and protection.
Responsibilities extend to avionics systems including flight control, navigation, communication, sensors, and integrated vehicle management. Conduct system integration checks, functional tests, and support software loading and validation. Accurate documentation of findings and corrective actions is essential.
Lead maintenance and readiness for Ground Test Vehicles (GTVs) and prototype aircraft, including pre-test, turnaround, and post-test inspections. Assist in test setup, instrumentation, data cable management, and test-area readiness. The facility at IIT Madras Discovery Campus provides a vibrant, intellectually stimulating environment with cutting-edge R&D access.
