
About this role
Provide friendly and welcoming assistance as requested or required to customers wishing to check baggage through automated self-service technologies. Interpret government rules and requirements for domestic and international travel. Serve customers in a caring, efficient, and diplomatic manner.
Stand for extended periods within the Bag Drop check-in area to listen, comprehend, ask questions and evaluate customer needs concerning checked baggage. Comprehend and communicate up-to-date carry-on and checked baggage requirements. Query passengers using FAA mandated security questions and verify customer identification as required by the FAA/TSA.
Visually verify proper placement of bag tags on self-tagged checked baggage and verify carry-on items meet carrier size requirements. Activate bag tags using automated electronic scanning device, verify weight of each checked item and collect baggage fees when applicable. Handle checked bags including lifting, weighing and placing on bag belt as needed.
Affix printed bag tags from assigned podium printers, change stock in automated printers and complete required paperwork. Consistently demonstrate welcoming and helpful behaviors throughout the performance of all tasks. Work in a fast-paced airport environment dealing with the public while treating all information as confidential.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous airport and/or customer service experience preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have reliable telephone and transportation
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or hold up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to read, understand and carry out instructions in English
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug test
- Must pass a Criminal Background check
