About this role

Working under the direction of the Director of Flight Operations, the Critical Care Flight Dispatcher receives requests for ground and/or air critical services via telephone and radio. Determines appropriate response, enters information in the Computer-Aided Dispatch System, and selects and dispatches the appropriate unit(s) to the nature of the emergency. This role operates in a faith-based organization focused on exceptional patient care.

Provides accurate information and assistance to callers to facilitate transport requests, following established guidelines or using best judgment to match requests with the most appropriate service. Evaluates each call to determine the appropriate level of response and prioritizes based on severity. Performs vehicle-tracking functions during the transport process and coordinates patient placement at hospitals.

Receives all incoming telephone inquiries for critical care assistance in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. Maintains professional radio and phone communication with administration, transport teams, requesting agencies, hospital staff, physicians, and public safety personnel. Triages all requests for transport and accurately enters information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch System.

Maintains all required records, documentation, and billing paperwork associated with patient transport. Demonstrates working knowledge of policies, procedures, protocols, state and local EMS regulations, and emergency response plans. Participates in quality management, emergency-procedure testing, and annual drills while showing critical thinking in high-stress environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate’s degree (preferred)
  • Demonstrates critical thinking abilities when triaging patient transports and making decisions in high stress environment
  • Has functional understanding of state and local EMS regulations, local EMS structure, and protocols
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all policies, procedures, and protocols for program operation
  • Maintains updated knowledge of all communications equipment
  • Maintains knowledge of the Emergency Response Plan
