About this role

Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia delivers a national flying program for the Australian Border Force and 24/7 search-and-rescue support to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Working in the Airborne Solutions Operations Centre (ASOC), this role coordinates daily flying operations and aircrew rosters on 12.5-hour rotating day/night shifts. You'll manage disruptions to align client outcomes with aircrew and aircraft availability.

Report to the ASOC Manager as part of the operations team, liaising with internal and external stakeholders including aircraft maintenance and client organisations. Monitor operational performance, coordinate aircraft breakdown recoveries, and ensure compliance with procedures and regulations. Proactively identify efficiency gains while supporting mission-critical airborne special missions covering over 10% of Earth's surface.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong decision-making in time-sensitive environments
  • Tenacious problem-solver able to work independently and as part of a team under pressure
  • Aviation experience or training, with Operations or Crewing experience desirable
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to operate effectively and calmly in high-pressure aviation operations
  • Capacity to work 12.5-hour rotating day/night shifts

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the flying program, including aircraft maintenance coordination and aircrew management
  • Monitor and maximise operational performance and revenue within the scope of the role
  • Coordinate recovery of aircraft breakdowns and manage operational limitations impacting the flying program
  • Manage disruption and align client outcomes with aircrew and aircraft availability
  • Ensure all activities comply with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively identify efficiency gains and continuously improve processes
  • Support aircrew rosters and daily flying operations on rotating day/night shifts
