About this role

As a Part-Time Ramp Agent, you will support aircraft operations by handling baggage, cargo, and ground equipment at the gate. This role involves physical tasks like lifting up to 70 lbs, pushing carts, and driving tugs or belt loaders. Ensure aircraft are prepped and secured for flights while reading load sheets and tags.

Daily duties include ascending jet-way stairs with baggage, bending to stack cargo, and cleaning aircraft interiors and lavatories. Use radio devices to communicate with crew and coworkers during loading and unloading. Operate in all temperatures and weather outdoors to maintain efficiency.

Work in a fast-paced airport environment requiring compliance with United and FAA regulations. Physical agility is key for stooping, crawling in tight spaces, and performing varied activities. Flexibility for any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime is essential.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid US state driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Must acquire and maintain airport credentials including fingerprint clearance, badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process including drug screen, hearing and vision check
  • Available to work any shift including day/night, weekends, holidays; mandatory overtime may be required
  • Able to carry, bend, lift and turn with items weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Able to perform physical activities including pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight spaces
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English

Responsibilities

  • Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs throughout shift
  • Push/pull loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations
  • Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage
  • Bend/stoop and crawl to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft
  • Drive ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts
  • Clean interior of aircraft and service lavatories
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Ensure compliance with United and FAA regulations
