The Maintenance Crew Chief provides direction, leadership, and assistance to Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Apprentices alongside regular AME duties. They ensure directives from the Base Engineer are completed and delegate tasks to keep the crew focused. This role involves sharing skills at all bases throughout Manitoba and Nunavut.

Work independently or as part of a skilled team in a dynamic setting with shift work including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Support all policies and procedures in the Calm Air SMS Program as outlined in the company Safety Management Manual. Ensure crew follows safe working practices.

Requirements

  • Valid security clearances
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Graduate of an accredited aviation program
  • ATR 42/72 endorsement
  • Boeing 737 and Airbus experience
  • Ability to lift 75lbs and possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Direct maintenance staff when carrying out inspections, repairs, replacements, rectifications to ensure manpower is utilized efficiently
  • Ensure tasks completed by maintenance staff are signed for on completion
  • Carry out Quality Assurance functions as directed by the VP Quality & Safety
  • Ensure proper hand-over of full details for work in progress to the succeeding shift
  • Communicate all completed or outstanding maintenance with the Base Engineer
  • Assist with and support all policies and procedures in regard to the Calm Air SMS Program
  • Ensure crew follow all safe working practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
