About this role

An exciting new position has opened up within Marshall for an Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) at the airport in Cambridge. Controllers provide Tower, Radar and Approach services for military and civilian aircraft. They work within a small and highly motivated team.

ATCOs deliver a safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of ATC services to aircraft under Instrument and Visual Flight Rules. This includes handling arriving, departing, or vicinity operations at Cambridge City Airport. They de-conflict aircraft from vehicles and ground obstructions.

Controllers operate within the limitations of their ATC license at all times. Services conform to CAA Regulatory Standards and local instructions, including CAP 493 (MATS Part 1), MATS Part 2, and the Cambridge City Airport Safety Management System. This ensures ongoing safety of ATC operations.

Requirements

  • Hold a UK CAA Air Traffic Controller’s license with ADI rating
  • Ideally hold APS rating and validate this at Cambridge
  • Hold (or obtain) a UK Class 3 medical certificate
  • ATCO Level 6 English language proficiency
  • APP rating (desirable)
  • Met Observers Qualification (desirable)
  • Validated ATCO Class G Airspace experience (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tower, Radar and Approach services for military and civilian aircraft
  • Deliver a safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of ATC services to aircraft under IFR and VFR
  • Handle arriving, departing, or vicinity operations at Cambridge City Airport
  • De-conflict aircraft from vehicles and other obstructions on the ground
  • Operate within the limitations of ATC license
  • Ensure conformance with CAA Regulatory Standards and local Cambridge City Airport instructions
  • Comply with CAP 493 (MATS Part 1), MATS Part 2, and Safety Management System
