About this role

Amentum is seeking a Range Air Traffic Controller (RATC) to provide close positive air control of all aircraft operating in PMRF airspace. Must be certified in accordance with PMRFINST 3722.1 Series prior to controlling aircraft in PMRF airspace. Able to work independently or under minimum supervision.

Provide close positive control of multiple aircraft through interpretation of radar data on analog and digital display devices. Communicate with aircraft using proper radio transmission procedures and protocols. Provide controlled aircraft with flight information necessary for mission accomplishment and collision avoidance.

Maintain a log of all aircraft activity on the Range and set-up, check-out, operate, and monitor radar displays and multi-sensor systems. Maintain surveillance and notify RCO of unidentified aircraft or vessels entering operational areas. Direct Range aircraft and boats in launch, recovery of targets, and weapons recovery.

General office environment with periodic assignments at remote sites requires carrying portable field radios into rough terrain for remote EW operations. Physical activities include lifting 1-10 lbs, sitting, repeated climbing, and pushing/pulling 1-10 lbs. Extended workdays and field assignments support dynamic Range Operations.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in ATC field
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of a Navy "A" School Air Traffic Controller (ATC) course or Navy Air Intercept Controller (AIC)
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ATC School, Navy Air Direction Controller (ADC) Course, or Equivalent Air Force Schools
  • Certified in accordance with PMRFINST 3722.1 Series prior to controlling aircraft in PMRF airspace
  • Secret security clearance required; must be a US Citizen
  • Able to work independently or under minimum supervision

Responsibilities

  • Provide close positive control of multiple aircraft through interpretation of radar data presented on analog and digital display devices
  • Communicate with aircraft using proper radio transmission procedures and protocols
  • Provide controlled aircraft with flight information necessary for them to accomplish their mission and avoid interfering with other aircraft
  • Maintain a log of all aircraft activity on the Range
  • Set-up, check-out, operate and monitor radar displays and other computer generated multi-sensor display systems in support of Range Operations
  • Maintain surveillance and notify RCO of unidentified aircraft or vessels entering the operational areas
  • Direct Range aircraft and boats in the launch and recovery of targets and the recovery of weapons
  • Perform aerial target coordination tasks during RPV flights and aircraft coordination during remote site EW operations as required
