Chennai, IN · Full-time · INR 3,500,000 – INR 5,500,000

About this role

This is more than an engineering role; it's an opportunity to be the chief architect of our aircraft's entire avionics suite. Take complete ownership from selecting the first sensor to certifying the final integrated cockpit. Lead a talented team and make critical design decisions to build the aircraft's nervous system.

Define the end-to-end avionics architecture ensuring seamless integration of all subsystems. Lead trade studies for selecting major components like flight displays, Communication/Navigation/Surveillance equipment, flight data recorders, and cabin systems. Oversee physical and logical integration with flight controls and high-voltage powertrain.

Design and manage System Integration Labs (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop Test Stations (HITS), and verification benches. The ePlane Company is at the forefront of India's urban air mobility revolution, incubated at IIT Madras. We're a passionate team building the world's most compact electric flying taxi.

Develop certification strategy and documentation for compliance. Join visionaries working on cutting-edge technology to make door-to-door flying a reality. Help decongest cities for a cleaner, greener future while leading avionics technical excellence.

  • Hands-on suite integration: proven practical experience taking a full avionics suite from component selection through to fully integrated and tested system on an iron bird, HITS, or aircraft
  • Expert-level understanding of integrated flight decks (e.g., Garmin G1000/G3000, Honeywell Primus Apex)
  • Practical experience with Flight Management Systems (FMS) and cockpit display page modeling
  • Experience with warning systems like Ground Proximity Warning Systems (GPWS/TAWS)
  • Experience with CNS Equipment: COM/NAV radios, transponders (Mode S, ADS-B), GPS/GNSS receivers

Responsibilities

  • Lead the avionics team: mentor, guide, and manage engineers fostering technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving
  • Architect the system: define end-to-end avionics architecture ensuring seamless integration of all subsystems
  • Drive component selection: lead trade studies for major avionics components including flight displays, CNS equipment, flight data recorders, and cabin systems
  • Champion integration: plan and oversee physical and logical integration with flight controls and high-voltage powertrain
  • Establish test infrastructure: design, set up, and manage SIL, HITS, and other verification benches
