About this role

Responsible for the research, integration, testing, certification, and follow-on support of avionics and electrical components and software for general aviation aircraft. Work closely with equipment manufacturers, systems engineers, and test pilots to establish and refine cross-system requirements. This ensures a high-quality end user experience with a safe, robust, and intuitive system design.

Daily tasks include integration and testing of avionics and electrical systems, covering requirements development and traceability. Conduct research to identify potential solutions for design objectives, followed by detail design and installation. Develop, execute, and troubleshoot test cases on both bench and aircraft setups.

Coordinate design development and system integration within Cirrus and with subcontractors. Generate high quality reports and test plans to meet FAR Part 23 certification requirements. Collaborate in a cross-functional team environment to maintain engineering documentation for multiple aircraft type design data.

Demonstrate competencies in directing work, situational adaptability, managing complexity, and effective communication. Leverage skills in lab equipment and tools to support robust avionics systems. Contribute to ongoing certification and support for highly integrated general aviation platforms.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years’ experience with general aviation avionics development/integration
  • Experience with integrated avionics systems (e.g. G1000, G3000, etc.)
  • Knowledge of avionics systems, software and hardware development processes (e.g. ARP-4754/DO-178/DO-254)
  • Requirements traceability (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
  • Equipment environmental qualification (e.g. DO-160)
  • Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Pilot experience desirable
