About this role
As the Senior SOC Operations Controller, you serve as a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring schedule integrity while assigning aircraft to all flights. You support customer operations during routine and non-routine operations by exercising considerable judgment in aircraft assignments and routing.
In your day-to-day, you take initiative to develop solutions and make operational decisions on aircraft rotation and tail number assignments. You load, audit, and optimize the daily flight schedule, and perform irregular operations entries accurately in various systems. You also develop and execute guest recovery plans, coordinating across multiple workgroups to minimize guest impact.
You operate within a collaborative environment guided by purpose, core values, and leadership principles. You communicate extensively with Maintenance, Engineering, Flight Operations, Stations, and other business units to align aircraft according to operational specifications. Your decisions directly support frontline employees in delivering consistent customer service.
As a senior individual contributor, you exercise considerable judgment and influence operational decisions during normal and abnormal operations. You serve as the advocate for internal and external customers, reviewing procedures and recommending improvements. This role provides the chance to initiate key programs like EFI and Extended Tarmac Delay as required.
Requirements
- 4 years of aircraft operations experience including SOC, Station/Ground Ops, Planning, or a combination.
- Bachelor's degree or additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Superior decision-making, cross-departmental coordination, and efficient utilization of operational resources.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to manage job-related programs.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work a variety of schedules including weekends and holidays; self-starter able to deal with high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Develop solutions and make operational decisions on aircraft rotation and tail number assignments based on capability, crew qualification, and route limitations.
- Make recommendations on flight cancellations, delays, added flights, or modifying flight routing.
- Load, audit, and optimize the daily flight schedule in Horizon Air computer systems.
- Perform irregular operations entries in various systems and ensure accuracy per company policy.
- Develop and manage execution of guest recovery plans and coordinate across multiple workgroups.
- Oversee delay coding activity and support trend analysis to identify operational improvements.
- Initiate programs such as EFI, Extended Tarmac Delay, and related communications as required.
- Review and recommend procedural changes as needed.
