As an experienced Licensed Type A Dispatcher/Flight Dispatcher, you oversee scheduling and dispatching of aircraft with safety as top priority. The position is based out of the Edmonton, AB office.
Perform pre-flight duties reviewing routing, airport suitability, NOTAMs, regulatory restrictions, and weather to ensure safe flights. Prepare Operational Flight Plans for each leg and review with the captain upon crew arrival. Coordinate with OCC on client requirements, routing, delays, and updates while reporting to air traffic control on departures and status.
Work closely with flight dispatchers, pilots, and OCC staff in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Assess weather hazards, check aircraft maintenance, and review weight, fuel, and cargo loads. Excellent communication supports coordination with OCC, dispatchers, and flight crew.

Requirements
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Be decisive as flight dispatchers must make rapid decisions concerning safety, regulations, and operations
- Competence with technology including computer software systems, calculators, weather charts, and loading reports
- Good analytical skills to interpret information and apply to flight plans
- Ability to work well in a team with dispatchers, pilots, and OCC staff
- Ability to concentrate for long periods in a high-pressure role responsible for safety
- Excellent communication skills coordinating with OCC, dispatchers, and flight crew
- Detailed knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations, aviation weather analysis, aircraft performance, systems, and flight logistics
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-flight duties by reviewing routing, airport suitability, NOTAMs, regulatory restrictions, weather, etc. to ensure safe flights
- Review the planned flight with the Captain to ensure suitability
- Assess weather reports and inform the pilot of any hazards
- Make checks on aircraft maintenance status and issues
- Review aircraft weight, fuel loads and cargo loads
- Coordinate with OCC regarding client requirements, routing, delays, and updates
- Report to air traffic control and airport staff about departure times and aircraft status
- Prepare the Operational Flight Plan (OFP) for each leg and review with the captain
