About this role
The ATC Specialist, Liaison serves as the designee responsible for guiding and assisting the host nation in the overall safe and orderly flow of air traffic within their designated airspace. This role maintains situational awareness of the overall flow of air traffic operations at the facility assigned.
The designee is responsible for all ATC facility operations and services during their shift. Rules of separation must be applied to achieve the required separation as outlined in FAA manuals and orders while coordinating with various controllers to relay information pertaining to aircraft and safety of flight.
Along with controlling aircraft the designee must process flight plans and supervise approach, departure, and arrival procedures. The individual maintains a full working knowledge of control tower operations and flight planning when operating in a control tower environment.
The designee will have a full working knowledge of RADAR or manual approach control operations and flight planning when operating from a radar facility. The role requires familiarity with radar or control tower operations and responsibility for vehicles and personnel operating on the airfield.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved DoD or FAA ATC course
- Eight years of experience with one year performing in a like type facility
- Hold required tower certification: FAA Control Tower Operator certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Tower rating, or equivalent
- Hold required radar certification: Air Traffic Control Specialist certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Radar rating, or equivalent
- Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Class II Medical Certificate
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
