Brisbane, AU · Full-time · A$170,000 – A$220,000

About this role

Boeing Australia seeks a Senior Technical Product Owner based in Brisbane in hybrid capacity. This role drives successful delivery of a large-scale, next-generation pilot training product. It owns and manages the backlog for three simulation systems workstreams in a complex, geographically distributed program.

Operate in a high-paced Kanban-based development environment emphasizing regular, frequent deliveries of working software. Translate high-level business needs, functional and non-functional requirements into detailed, actionable engineering tasks. Ensure transparency, risk management, quality, and timely escalation of blockers through close collaboration with development teams.

Act as the key interface between business stakeholders, engineering stakeholders, distributed development teams across time zones, and other parallel workstreams. Facilitate communication and coordination to manage dependencies, resolve cross-team impediments, and maintain program coherence. Monitor workflow using Kanban boards, tracking cycle time, throughput, and work-in-progress limits.

Capture and report progress metrics, burndown data, and status updates to leadership, highlighting risks and forecasts. Proactively identify and manage technical risks, ensuring increments meet quality standards like simulation fidelity, latency, scalability, and regulatory compliance for pilot training systems. Participate in ceremonies such as backlog refinement, replenishment, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or similar backlog/requirements ownership role in agile software development environments
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance the development and production delivery of high-quality software that meets all stakeholder requirements
  • Experience in Kanban-based development environments with frequent software deliveries
  • Ability to translate business needs and non-functional requirements into actionable engineering tasks for simulation systems
  • Experience working with distributed development teams across time zones
  • Familiarity with simulation systems requirements such as performance, reliability, fidelity, latency, and scalability
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance needs relevant to pilot training systems

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the product backlog for three simulation systems workstreams, including creation, refinement, prioritization, and grooming of epics, features, user stories, and tasks
  • Collaborate with Product Manager and business stakeholders to decompose strategic priorities and pilot training objectives into granular engineering items
  • Work with distributed development teams to refine requirements, define acceptance criteria, and break down work into manageable Kanban items
  • Facilitate communication between simulation workstreams and other program workstreams to manage dependencies and resolve impediments
  • Monitor and visualize workflow using Kanban boards to track cycle time, throughput, and drive continuous improvement
  • Capture and report progress metrics, burndown data, and status updates to project management and leadership
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks within simulation workstreams, implementing mitigations and escalating issues

Benefits

  • Hybrid working capacity
