
About this role
Eaton's IS AER FED Aerospace division is seeking an MRO Engineer to support the repairs business at the Beltsville, MD location. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining FAA and customer compliant procedures and processes that drive business and financial goals.
Day-to-day functions include fabricating tools and fixtures, optimizing manufacturing processes and work instructions, and leading continuous improvement activities such as kaizen events and six sigma projects. The engineer will also develop component drawings, work with suppliers in a short lead time environment, and assist with shop floor layout.
This position partners with cross-functional teams to deliver new repair schemes and interfaces with various vendors and suppliers. The engineer will learn multiple product families including hose and tube assemblies, ducting assemblies, flexible joints, and sealing technologies.
Opportunities include developing new repair criteria, reducing waste and inefficiencies through work standards, and contributing to capital appropriation requests for new equipment. The role supports MRO leadership in achieving business goals while fostering original thinking and resourcefulness.
Requirements
- Ability to learn multiple product families (hose & tube assemblies, ducting assemblies, flexible joints and sealing technologies)
- Ability to learn materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements/order generation process logic
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tool sets as they relate to production management
- Ability to participate in and direct cross-functional process improvement teams
- Ability to answer inspection related questions; learn Blueprints and acquire GD&T knowledge
- Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness
- Must be mindful of process and test capabilities and recognize organizational core competencies
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute cost effective repair procedures for Eaton, non-Eaton and government regulatory agencies’ products in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
- Research and comply with all required regulatory approvals for Aero Repair Station
- Partner with cross functional team to deliver new repair schemes in short lead time
- Fabricate tools and fixtures, optimize processes and work instructions, and seek opportunities to reduce waste, cost and inefficiencies through creation of work standards
- Develop component drawings and work with suppliers to procure them in a short lead time environment
- Facilitate kaizen events including problem solving and process improvement blitzes to eliminate waste and reduce process variations
- Determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve issues involving discrepant product or material
- Assist in composition of Capital Appropriation Requests including payback and net present value analysis for acquisition of equipment
Benefits
- Expected annual salary range of $82,000 - $100,000
- On-site role at Beltsville, MD location with Monday-Friday schedule
