About this role
Qantas, Australia's largest airline, is seeking a Logistics Operations Controller to join our Engineering Supply Chain team. In this role, you will manage domestic and international freight services for Qantas Engineering, ensuring supplier contractual obligations and Group policies are met.
You will oversee the 24-hour operational requirements of the Engineering business globally, managing Aircraft on Ground (AOG), Critical, and Routine priority shipments across multiple suppliers. As the first point of contact for escalations, you will coordinate recovery plans and drive continuous improvement to meet organisational needs at the lowest cost.
Based at the Sydney Distribution Centre on a Monday-Friday daywork schedule, you will join a team that prides itself on forward thinking and innovation. Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working within freight and logistics management
- Working understanding of airfreight operations including customs, incoterms, and dangerous goods, or relevant Aviation Engineering experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy, often working independently
- Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to build a network of effective relationships and influence at all levels
- Analytical approach to problem solving and capacity to produce results within a given time frame
- Strong commitment to business improvement and ability to deliver results
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Excel suite
- Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers shaping freight, logistics, aviation, and customs regulations environment
Responsibilities
- Manage domestic and international freight services to Qantas Engineering through internal and external Freight providers
- Oversee 24-hour operational requirements of the Engineering business globally
- Accountable for performance of Aircraft on Ground (AOG), Critical, and Routine priority shipments across multiple suppliers
- Serve as first point of contact for escalations from internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate recovery plans and drive continuous improvement to meet organisational needs
- Ensure services are provided at the lowest cost while maintaining quality and compliance
- Manage supplier performance in line with contractual obligations and Qantas Group policies
