About this role

The ATC Specialist, Liaison is responsible for the overall daily safe and expeditious flow of air traffic within the designated facility control airspace. This role ensures compliance with ICAO and FAA 7110.65 regulatory guidance, applying separation rules as outlined in FAA manuals and orders. The designee maintains situational awareness of the overall flow of air traffic operations at the facility.

Daily duties include coordinating with various controllers and personnel to relay information pertaining to aircraft and safety of flight. The specialist processes flight plans and supervises approach, departure, and arrival procedures, ensuring adherence to CRM principles. They are also responsible for vehicles and personnel operating on the airfield.

The role operates within a dynamic air traffic control environment, requiring close coordination with multiple controllers and support staff. The specialist must maintain full working knowledge of control tower operations and flight planning. Fundamental knowledge of RADAR and manual approach control operations is essential. This position demands high situational awareness and adherence to regulatory standards.

This position offers exposure to complex airspace management and emergency response scenarios. It provides an opportunity to apply advanced ATC skills in a challenging international setting supporting US military operations. The role is critical to ensuring safe and efficient air traffic flow in a high-stakes environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved DoD or FAA ATC course.
  • Eight (8) years of experience, with at least one (1) year in a like-type facility.
  • Knowledge of ATC rules, regulations, and techniques; control tower and approach control operations.
  • Hold one of the following tower certifications: FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Tower rating, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall daily safe and expeditious flow of air traffic within designated facility control airspace in accordance with ICAO and FAA 7110.65 regulatory guidance.
  • Apply rules of separation as outlined in FAA manuals and orders to achieve required separation.
  • Maintain situational awareness of the overall flow of air traffic operations at the assigned facility.
  • Coordinate with various controllers and personnel to relay information pertaining to aircraft and safety of flight, including emergency information.
  • Supervise approach, departure, and arrival procedures.
  • Process flight plans and manage aircraft movement documentation.
  • Oversee vehicles and personnel operating on the airfield to ensure safety.
  • Maintain full working knowledge of control tower operations and flight planning, along with fundamental knowledge of RADAR/Manual approach control operations.
