About this role
Handshake is recruiting Air Traffic Controller Professionals for an hourly, temporary AI research project. No AI experience is needed. Leverage your expertise to evaluate AI model outputs, assess field-related content, and provide structured feedback to enhance model understanding of workplace tasks and language.
The position is remote and asynchronous, allowing independent work from anywhere. Flexible hours average 5-20 per week with no minimum commitment. Tasks include developing prompts reflecting your field and evaluating AI responses.
Work in partnership with leading AI labs on periodically opening projects. Placement depends on availability, with more opportunities coming soon. The program runs year-round across expertise areas.

Requirements
- At least 4 years professional experience in air traffic control
- Coordinated safe aircraft movement in assigned airspace and on ground
- Provided pilots critical information on weather, visibility, hazards
- Issued landing and take-off instructions
- Monitored aircraft using radar
- Maintained communication with adjacent control centers
- Able to participate in asynchronous work with AI labs
Responsibilities
- Evaluate what AI models produce related to air traffic control
- Assess content tied to aviation workplace tasks
- Deliver clear, structured feedback to improve AI understanding
- Develop prompts for AI models reflecting air traffic control field
- Coordinate feedback on aircraft movement, weather, and hazards
- Review AI-generated landing and take-off instructions
- Monitor simulated radar and communication scenarios
