About this role
Optime Group, aviation recruitment experts, seeks an experienced Baggage Handler/Ramp Agent to join a respected team at Luton Airport for the summer season. This full-time position offers overtime opportunities starting 23rd March 2026. Applicants must hold a full valid manual UK driving licence.
Process customers’ luggage by correctly loading it onto aircraft for departure and unloading upon arrival, ensuring proper weight and balance distribution. Operate various vehicles and machinery including mobile stair units, belt loaders, buggies, and tug vehicles. This physical role requires lifting and moving luggage up to 30kg regularly.
Work both airside and within the Undercroft baggage unit, managing downtime between arrivals and departures. Adapt to adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or extreme temperatures for safety and efficiency. Collaborate with ramp agents, ground handling staff, and airline personnel for smooth aircraft turnaround.
Receive full training with 11 days of classroom-based sessions and shadowing; successful candidates must attend the full duration. Full PPE will be provided. Opportunity for temp to perm based on performance with weekly pay every Friday.
Requirements
- Full valid manual UK driving licence (mandatory)
- Strong attention to detail
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Right to Work in the UK
- Five-year fully checkable reference history
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Responsibilities

Benefits
- £14.25 per hour, increasing to £15.28 per hour after 12 months
