About this role
SRP is one of the largest public power and water utilities in the U.S., providing electricity to one million customers in the Phoenix area. A Senior Helicopter Pilot delivers expert rotor-wing flight operations, piloting SRP helicopters while handling non-flying duties for the flight department's success. The role requires extensive experience in helicopter operations and quick learning of new aviation skills.
Pilots serve as Pilot-In-Command for a fleet of multi-engine helicopters including Bell 429, Bell 212, and Bell 412. Daily missions cover powerline patrol, construction, wildlife surveys, water measurement, snow surveys, communication site support, crew hauls, Lidar mapping, watershed tours, corporate transport, and external loads. Operations occur in the complex Phoenix metro airspace and remote Arizona mountain and desert sites.
Perform takeoffs and landings from urban helipads, pinnacles, confined areas, floating helipads, and unprepared zones. Handle high-density altitudes, brown out/white out conditions, day/night flights, and Night Vision Goggles operations. Ground handle, load, and refuel helicopters as needed.

Requirements
- Extensive experience and knowledge in helicopter operations
- Ability to serve as Pilot-In-Command on multi-engine rotorcraft
- Proficiency in complex airspace navigation including Phoenix metro area
- Expertise in operations from pinnacles, confined areas, and unprepared landing zones
- Experience handling high-density altitudes and brown out/white out conditions
- Qualified for day, night, and Night Vision Goggles (NVG) flights
- Capacity to quickly learn new aviation skills
- Knowledge of diverse utility missions like powerline patrol and external loads
