About this role

Ports of Jersey ANSP are looking for a qualified and experienced Air Traffic Control Officer to join the team at Jersey Airport. Air Traffic Controllers have ADI and APS ratings and provide Aerodrome and Approach/Terminal control. They operate the Channel Islands Airspace controlling all aircraft in and out as well as traffic transiting up to FL195.

Controllers work on a shift pattern basis to cover hours of operation, including mornings, days, afternoons and night shifts. You will be required to act as the Duty ATC Supervisor during night and early morning watches. Provide a safe, orderly and expeditious air traffic control service to all aircraft entering, departing or over-flying the airspace.

Join the Air Traffic Control department at Jersey Airport in St Peter. As an essential role in Jersey, you will be given a licence by Ports of Jersey. Expected to have an understanding of SMS/QMS and engage in projects like Airspace Infringements, Human Factors, Technical Committee and Investigations.

Maintain a UK Class 3 Medical Certificate and pass annual Unit Competency Examinations with practical and oral assessments. Complete required hours of Annual Refresher Training and hold detailed knowledge of Manual of Air Traffic Services Parts 1 and 2 plus UK Aeronautical Information Publication. Operate as per the company Just Culture policy.

Requirements

  • Valid UK Air Traffic Controller License issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority
  • UK ADI/UK APS rating with previous Unit Endorsement (ideally holding both ratings)
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency Certificate at level 4 or above
  • UK Class 3 Medical Certificate
  • Pass annual Unit Competency Examination including practical and oral competency assessments
  • Complete required hours of Annual Refresher Training
  • Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of Manual of Air Traffic Services Parts 1 and 2 and UK Aeronautical Information Publication

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, orderly and expeditious air traffic control service to all aircraft entering, departing or over-flying the Channel Islands Airspace
  • Hold and maintain a UK Class 3 Medical Certificate
  • Engage and contribute to projects such as Airspace Infringements, Human Factors, Technical Committee, Investigations
  • Act in accordance with OJT and/or Assessor endorsements if applicable
  • Monitor the operational position and provide an accurate and precise report on any contravention of safety criteria
  • Understand and operate as per the company Just Culture policy
  • Assume control of night and early morning watches as Duty ATC Supervisor
