About this role

Responsible for the safe operation of a medium lift twin engine helicopter in single pilot day/night/NVG visual and instrument flight conditions. Performs flight duty in a 24 hour hospital based operation. Adheres to CAMTS guidelines throughout all operations.

Complies with all FAA Regulations, Angel One Transport General Aviation Operations Manual, Safety Manual, and Training Manual. Prepares VFR/IFR flight plans in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and policies. Ensures aircraft is prepared for flight per the Aircraft Operator's Manual.

Works in the Angel One Aviation department within a safety sensitive hospital environment. Performs maintenance operational checks and notifies Director of Operations on medical deficiencies affecting flight safety. Operates in a tobacco-free workplace with flu vaccines required.

Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command per FAR Part 135.297 for Single Pilot Instrument Flight Rules. Files, activates, and closes flight plans while completing all required logs and manifests. Performs other duties as assigned to support 24-hour operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Class 1 Medical Certification or Class 2 Medical Certification - FAA
  • Commercial Helicopter with Instrument - FAA
  • Proficiency in single pilot day/night/NVG visual and instrument flight conditions
  • Adherence to CAMTS guidelines for hospital-based helicopter operations
  • Ability to operate medium lift twin engine helicopter
  • Air Transport Pilot License - FAA (recommended)
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Helicopter - FAA (recommended)

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all FAA Regulations (FAR's, 14 CFR), Angel One Transport General Aviation Operations Manual, Safety Manual, Training Manual and all other policies
  • Prepares VFR/IFR flight plans in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and policies
  • Ensures aircraft is prepared for flight in accordance with the Aircraft Operator's Manual and General Aviation Operations Manual
  • Performs maintenance operational checks and/or flights and enters mechanical discrepancies into aircraft log book
  • Files, activates and closes flight plans
  • Ensures proper completion of flight logs, manifest records and maintenance forms
  • Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command as per FAR Part 135.293/299 and Single Pilot Instrument Flight Rules (SPIFR) proficiency as per FAR Part 135.297
  • Notifies the Director of Operations whenever a medical deficiency exists that would affect the safety of flight
