About this role

United Ground Express is seeking a Part-Time Ramp Agent to join our team in Albuquerque. In this role, you will be the backbone of ground operations, ensuring aircraft are safely and efficiently serviced for departure.

Your day-to-day involves lifting baggage and cargo weighing up to 70 lbs., often handling over 100 items for a single aircraft. You will push and pull loaded carts, ascend and descend jet-way stairs while carrying bags, and bend, stoop, and crawl to stack cargo in the aircraft hold.

You will operate ground equipment such as tugs to help push aircraft in and out of gates, belt loaders for baggage, and bag carts for delivery. The role also includes cleaning aircraft interiors, servicing lavatories, and reading load sheets and baggage tags to ensure proper loading.

This position offers a path for career advancement within a major aviation company. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions and must be available for any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials including fingerprint clearance, local airport badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process including drug screen, hearing and vision check
  • Available to work any shift; day or night, weekends, and holidays; mandatory overtime may be required
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift, and turn with bags and other items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. throughout your shift
  • Push and pull loaded and empty carts during loading and unloading operations
  • Ascend and descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage
  • Drive ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts
  • Clean the interior of aircraft and service aircraft lavatories
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Use radio electronic devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
  • Work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
