About this role

As a Part-Time Ramp Agent with United Ground Express, you will be essential to safe and efficient ground operations at Richmond International Airport. You will handle baggage, cargo, and aircraft servicing to ensure on-time departures.

Your shift involves lifting baggage weighing up to 70 lbs, often over 100 items per aircraft, and driving ground equipment like tugs and belt loaders. You will also clean aircraft interiors and service lavatories, while communicating with crew via radio.

You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, alongside a team dedicated to safety and compliance with United and FAA regulations. The role requires physical stamina and attention to detail in a fast-paced airport environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Must acquire and maintain credentials including fingerprint clearance, airport badging, and background check
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process including drug screen, hearing, and vision check
  • Available to work any shift including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift, and turn with items weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing up to 70 lbs throughout your shift
  • Push/pull loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations
  • Drive ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and bag carts
  • Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage
  • Clean aircraft interiors and service lavatories
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Ensure compliance with United and FAA regulations and policies
  • Work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
