About this role

AirAsia X seeks a Flight Dispatcher for the lean, high-performing Flight Operations team in the Operations Control Centre. This role executes flight planning across the AAX network, prioritizing safety, economy, policies, rules, and regulatory requirements for safe, legal, efficient operations.

Daily tasks include analyzing weather forecasts, NOTAMs, and aircraft performance to determine economical routes and altitudes considering meteorological conditions, safety, and MCAR/OM-A requirements. Dispatchers negotiate routes with ATC, manage slots to avoid delays, and prepare flight plans with briefing materials for crews.

In the OCC environment, coordinate with duty executives, ATC units, airport authorities, and global Air Navigation Service Providers. Provide in-flight support by monitoring weather, positions, and flight progress, updating pilots on changes, and recommending reroutes or diversions for safety.

Support disruptions, optimize commercial payload, ensure fuel and alternate airports meet standards, and handle crises like typhoons or volcanic ash. Undergo annual regulatory training to maintain dispatch currency while contributing to smooth AAX flight dispatches.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage complex scenarios and acquire multiple stakeholder inputs for optimum results
  • Knowledge of MCAR and OM-A regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in analyzing weather forecasts, NOTAMs, and aircraft performance
  • Experience negotiating with ATC and managing flight slots
  • Familiarity with flight planning, OFP preparation, and performance calculations
  • Skills in ETOPS/EDTO alternate selection and fuel optimization
  • Competence in in-flight monitoring and disruption management
  • Annual regulatory training to maintain dispatch currency

Responsibilities

  • Analyze latest weather forecasts, NOTAM, and aircraft performance to determine route and flight altitude requirements based on economy, safety, and MCAR/OM-A regulations
  • Negotiate routes tactically with ATC service providers
  • Monitor, analyze, and manage ATC slots to avoid delays, negotiating with ATC units, airport authorities, and Air Navigation Service Providers
  • Prepare and file ATC flight plans, providing OFP and briefing materials to crews timely
  • Calculate take-off and landing performance data based on airport, meteorological conditions, and aircraft assessment
  • Select take-off, destination, en route, and ETOPS/EDTO alternate airports ensuring minimum fuel requirements
  • Monitor in-flight progress, provide mission support, and coordinate delays or cancellations for safety
  • Coordinate with operations departments for smooth dispatch and timely decisions during crises
