About this role

As a Crew Controller in the Operations Control Department, you manage and deliver Aer Lingus crewing operations on a 24/7 basis. This involves compliant, efficient, safe, and customer-driven processes across the network for long-haul and short-haul flights. The role ensures all flights are fully crewed for on-time departures while monitoring rosters for regulatory compliance.

Daily tasks include handling flight schedule disruptions, confirming crew allocations, validating qualifications and training, and booking logistics like hotels and transportation. You prioritize safety and on-time performance in all decisions while managing pilot and cabin crew resources efficiently. This hands-on approach supports the delivery of the Aer Lingus schedule.

You collaborate closely with Crew Control colleagues, Operations Control Duty Manager, Flight Operations, Inflight Services, and other stakeholders. Maintaining roster stability involves managing changes and minimizing irregular operations' impact on crewing. Direct interaction with crew ensures schedule integrity.

Develop operational contingency plans for disruptions over short or extended periods and provide expert advice on crewing per EASA requirements. Manage crew block hours, duty hours, and logistics including accommodations and deadheading. Detailed knowledge of Flight Time Limitations and Flight Duty Periods is essential for live operations.

Requirements

  • Detailed knowledge of pilot and cabin crew Flight Time Limitations (FTL) and Flight Duty Period (FDP) rules
  • Understanding of EASA requirements and implications on live flight operations
  • Experience managing crew rosters, allocations, and regulatory compliance in aviation
  • Proficiency in handling crew logistics including hotels, transportation, and deadheading
  • Ability to validate crew qualifications, training, and suitability for roles
  • Knowledge of statutory, regulatory frameworks, Working Condition Agreements, and company policies
  • Expertise in operational contingency planning for short and extended disruptions

Responsibilities

  • Manage crew resources on published rosters for pilots and cabin crew at all bases efficiently and cost-effectively in compliance with regulations
  • Handle flight schedule disruptions, confirm adequate crew allocations, validate qualifications and training, and book hotels and transportation
  • Achieve On-time performance KPI targets by prioritizing safety and efficiency
  • Ensure cost efficiencies through optimal deployment of crewing resources
  • Deal directly with crew on matters relating to schedule integrity and crewing operations
  • Maintain roster stability by collaborating with Operations Control, Flight Operations, Inflight Services and stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver contingency plans for disruptions and provide advice on EASA-compliant crewing
  • Manage crew block hours, duty hours, and logistics ensuring full regulatory compliance
