About this role
Ramp Agents at Southwest work outside to guide planes, move bags and cargo, and help with de-icing planes during cold weather. This busy, hands-on job is at the heart of every successful departure, and working together helps flights leave on time.
Day-to-day, you will operate on the ramp to ensure ground operations run smoothly and safely. Whether you are an aviation pro or just starting to learn about the industry, you will gain valuable experience and learn new things in this role.
You will join a team dedicated to keeping Southwest running safely and on schedule. The environment is fast-paced and requires close coordination with pilots, operations, and other ramp agents.
This is a part-time opportunity with 4-6 weeks of training to equip you for success. You will have the chance to grow within a company that values creativity, innovation, and providing a stable work environment with equal opportunity for learning and personal growth.
Requirements
- Resident of the State of Ohio
- Not previously interviewed and not selected for the Ramp Agent position at CMH within the last 12 months
- Ability to complete 4-6 weeks of training, including 8-hour classroom or on-the-job sessions
- Ability to work a part-time schedule determined by a seniority-based bidding process
- Must be able to work outside in cold weather and assist with de-icing operations
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy baggage and cargo
Responsibilities
- Guide planes to and from gates to ensure safe positioning
- Move bags and cargo between aircraft and terminal
- Help with de-icing planes during cold weather operations
- Assist in ensuring safe and on-time departures
- Work outside in various weather conditions
- Operate ground support equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts
- Work collaboratively with team members to help flights leave on time
