About this role

At CesiumAstro, we develop out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and airborne platforms. The Skylark product line focuses on rapid design, build, and test of cutting-edge active phased array antennas for terrestrial and airborne applications. We seek a Senior Electronics Engineer II for the Digital/Mixed-Signal Electronics team.

In this role, own the full lifecycle of board-level electronics hardware design and implementation for advanced RF communication systems. Serve as a digital-focused Senior Electrical Design Engineer with broad foundation in electrical design and test. Communicate technical concepts to peers and leadership effectively.

Work in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment that enables hands-on, interactive, and autonomous contributions. Engage across the organization while mentoring junior engineers and performing thorough design reviews. Drive technical decision-making in fast-moving programs spanning missile defense and commercial connectivity.

Develop leading-edge electronics for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems with passionate, collaborative team members. Lead focused efforts valuing rigor in analysis and testing. Gain exposure to high-power ground terminals and airline helicopter solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in board-level electronics design, analysis, and test
  • Significant experience designing electronics with rigor in teams valuing thorough analysis and testing
  • Expertise in digital and mixed-signal electronics such as signal integrity, FPGAs on boards, ADCs/DACs, and telemetry subsystems
  • Experience owning the design phase of complex board-level electronics including trade studies and key part selection
  • Expertise in PCB layout including HDI stackup design and high-speed routing
  • Experience running board-level signal integrity and power integrity simulation tools
  • Depth in point-of-load power converter design for digital boards

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of board-level electronics hardware design and implementation for advanced RF communication systems
  • Perform trade studies, key part selection, and detailed design for complex board-level electronics
  • Deliver hardware designs through production and deployment
  • Design PCB layouts including high-density interconnect stackup and high-speed routing
  • Run board-level signal integrity and power integrity simulations using tools like Ansys SIwave or Mentor Hyperlynx
  • Conduct debugging, root cause analysis, and design reviews
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive technical decision-making
  • Bring up and verify new hardware extensively in the lab
