About this role
Responsible for the research, integration, testing, certification, and follow-on support of avionics and electrical components and software for general aviation aircraft. This role works closely with equipment manufacturers, systems engineers, and test pilots to establish and refine cross-system requirements. The focus is on delivering a high-quality end user experience with a safe, robust, and intuitive system design.
Day-to-day duties include integration and testing of avionics systems, requirements development and traceability, and research for potential solutions to design objectives. Engineers handle detail design, installation, test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on bench and aircraft. Coordination ensures seamless design development and system integration within Cirrus and with subcontractors.
Collaboration occurs across cross-functional teams, including equipment manufacturers and internal test pilots, to meet FAR Part 23 certification requirements. High-quality reports and test plans support certification efforts. Engineering documentation maintains type design data for multiple aircraft per company procedures.

Requirements
- 2-6 years’ experience with general aviation avionics development/integration
- Pilot experience desirable
- Prior experience with integrated avionics systems (e.g. G1000, G3000, etc.)
- Avionics systems, software and hardware development processes (e.g. ARP-4754/DO-178/DO-254)
- Requirements traceability (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
- Equipment environmental qualification (e.g. DO-160)
- Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
Responsibilities
