About this role
Apex is seeking a Spacecraft Avionics Engineer to design and develop avionics systems and electrical components for satellite platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and develop electrical architectures to ensure seamless integration of subsystems.
Your daily work will involve designing electrical board layouts including printed circuit boards and selecting electronic components such as sensors and processors. You will define test plans and troubleshoot issues during development and integration phases.
Apex manufactures satellite buses at scale using vertical integration and hardware designed for manufacturing, operating in a fast-paced environment where innovation is key. You will join a team focused on providing spacecraft platforms for earth observation, communications, and more.

Requirements
- U.S. Person status required to access export controlled data.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- 3-6 years of relevant experience in avionics and electrical engineering, preferably in the aerospace or satellite industry.
- Proficient in designing and developing avionics systems, electrical circuits, and subsystems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles including analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Experience with electrical design tools such as eCAD software.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop avionics systems and electrical components for satellite platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of avionics subsystems into the satellite platform.
- Develop and implement electrical system architectures and schematics for power distribution, communication interfaces, and control systems.
- Design and create electrical boards, including printed circuit boards (PCBs), with consideration of component placement and signal routing.
- Conduct research and analysis to select suitable electronic components such as sensors, transmitters, receivers, and processors.
- Define and execute comprehensive test plans and procedures to validate avionics and electrical systems performance.
- Identify and resolve electrical and avionics system issues during development, integration, and testing phases.
