About this role

MV Transportation is seeking a Dispatch Manager who will provide direction to dispatchers while monitoring system performance and making adjustments to maximize on-time performance and minimize customer wait times.

The role requires proactive assessment of staffing needs based on service hours and peak call periods while defining and publishing staff schedules in accordance with collective agreements.

Dispatch protocols must follow both client and company policies with accurate documentation of daily events related to service including vehicle pull-outs and passenger changes.

Focus remains on maintaining a safe work area while maximizing wage to revenue percentages and minimizing non-revenue and overtime wages through effective shift coverage.

Requirements

Three (3) years supervisory or management experience in the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

Provide direction to and maintain two-way communications with all dispatchers while monitoring system performance.
Proactively assess staffing needs as determined by service hours and peak call periods.
Define and publish staff schedules based on service demand and in accordance with collective agreements.
Recruit, interview and select employees in compliance with hiring practices and minimum standards of qualification.
Ensure prompt investigation and resolution of complaints and incidents in compliance with company policy.
Organize and coordinate dispatch agent training programs for new hires and refresher customer service training.
Monitor dispatch performance as it relates to driver incidents, equipment failure and vehicle breakdowns.
Ensure dispatchers assign will-call and same day trips to available and appropriate vehicles.
