This role requires deep expertise in Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC), Automatic Train Protection (ATP), and Automatic Train Operation (ATO) systems for light rail transit applications.
You will lead the design and engineering of CBTC/ATC signaling systems for LRT alignment, including wayside and onboard subsystems. Oversee integration of signaling systems with other LRT subsystems such as OCS, communications, SCADA, and vehicle systems.
Coordinate with clients, technical advisors, and systems contractors on signaling design reviews and approvals. Provide technical leadership for underpass and grade separation signaling designs interfacing with existing rail corridors.

Requirements
- Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligibility for licensure.
- 10+ years professional experience in rail signalling system design.
- Demonstrated experience delivering CBTC systems (Alstom Urbalis, Bombardier Cityflo, Thales SelTrac, or equivalent).
- Expert knowledge of ATP, ATO, ATS subsystems and interlocking design.
- Experience with IEEE 1474 CBTC standards and CENELEC railway safety standards (EN 50126/50128/50129).
- Proficiency in signaling simulation tools and system modeling.
- Track record of successful signaling commissioning on urban rail transit projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of CBTC/ATC signaling systems for LRT alignment, including wayside and onboard subsystems.
- Oversee integration of signaling systems with other LRT subsystems including OCS, communications, SCADA, and vehicle systems.
- Develop and review signaling system specifications, interface control documents, and safety cases in accordance with EN 50126/50128/50129 and AREMA standards.
- Manage signaling system verification, validation, and commissioning activities including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Coordinate with the client, technical advisors, and systems contractors on signaling design reviews and approvals.
- Provide technical leadership for underpass and grade separation signaling designs interfacing with existing rail corridors.
- Mentor junior signaling engineers and review their technical deliverables.
- Support OMSF signaling and train control system design for vehicle movements and yard operations.
